Although I had my doubts about mirrors absorbing energy, I couldn’t deny the heaviness I felt in that house. My steps as we descended into darkness were rigid and labored, and my thoughts were muddled. The air grew dense. My mother and sister remained quiet as we followed Angelina down the long staircase to the basement.

Angelina continued whispering about the fine line between good spirits and bad ones. No one questioned why she would dare take us where she knew something bad existed. Where she’d been attacked.
